Truck mount overturn in Breda

A truck mounted platform overturned at a development alongside the Heilig Hart Hof (sacred heart church) in Breda, the Netherlands on Saturday. One man was hurt in the incident, but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The platform, a Bizzochi telescopic from the fleet of facilities management company Schoonmaakbedrijf Perfekt, was set up on the ramp into an underground parking garage at the development, which includes 39 new apartments. The work was carried out on the weekend in order to close the access to the parking lot without causing any disruption.

The lift was being used to install bat boxes in order to ensure that they remain on the site after the development is occupied. It is unclear what caused the machine to lose stability, but it is possibly associated with being set up on the ramp. The Labour Inspectorate is investigating the incident.

We will update this item when we learn more.

When a follow-up is posted I suggest the details focus on type of MEWP equipment chosen to meet the use application for installing bat boxes and the physical constraints of the property. The photo indicates too large a vehicle was selected to fit into a very small ramp area.
