New MD for Liebherr USA

Liebherr has appointed Tim Gerhardt as managing director of its operations in the USA.

He shares executive responsibilities with joint managing director Kai Friedrich, divisional director for construction equipment.
Five years ago, Liebherr USA was formed as a mixed sales organisation in order to use the organisation’s capabilities by creating a simpler structure covering nine of the company product segments.

Tim Gerhardt

Gerhardt will be responsible for leading and overseeing the strategic development, communication and implementation of growth strategies for all corporate, finance and administrative functions integrated in the shared services at Liebherr USA. He replaces Torben Reher who has been in the role since its inception in 2016 and now wishes to return to Germany.

Tim Gerhardt takes over from Torben Reher (R)

Gerhardt comes to Liebherr USA from the company’s remanufacturing operation in Ettlingen, Germany where has worked since joining Liebherr in 2016. He began his career in 1998 with Bosch where he was inhouse consultant. In 2001 he moved to BMW as a senior manager in the controls division. Seven years later he left for MAN Truck & Bus as a vice president, transferring to its Middle East operations in Dubai where he was chief financial officer.

Gerhardt said: “Working as managing director for Liebherr in the United States gives me the unique opportunity to develop the company to its next level after a successful launch in 2016. It allows me to work in an interesting environment within one of Liebherr’s most important markets.”
