New boom lift tyre

Specialist tyre Trident has launched a brand new non-directional rough terrain tyre for boom lifts, the SSK-04, which is a patented high traction tyre which it says provides even tyre wear irrespective of the direction of travel, with the same tractive performance in both directions, while reducing vibration.

The tyres also eliminate the need to install or re-install as right or left and have also been designed to reduce the volume of ‘poly fill’ required, thanks to an "optimised inner tyre profile". Sizes available include 315/55D20, 355/55D625, 15-625 and 18-625, all of which are available in standard black or non-marking formats.

The new non directional SSK-04 boom lift tyre

The company said: “Most boom lift tyres currently available are in a R4 traction, directional pattern, as boom lifts have a 360 degree slew, there is no defined forward and reverse direction. In fact, machines have decals showing that machine can be used in either direction. Directional tyres when frequently used in reverse will exhibit faster wear and are prone to vibration. Our patented SSK-04 high traction pattern provides even wear irrespective of the direction of motion, uniform performance in all directions of motion with reduced vibration. “

Trident specialises in the design, development and supply of tyres for construction and material handling equipment.

non directional tread patterns make sense. Drive is about equal time in both directions
