Boom lift fatality
Two men died on Saturday, when the boom lift they were working from overturned in Galesville, Wisconsin.
The men had been using the Genie telescopic boom to trim trees when they were found on the ground by either someone checking on them or passing by. They appeared to be dead and were declared so by the emergency services when they arrived.
The two had been operating the lift on a fairly steep slope and had fully elevated the retracted boom with the counterweight facing downhill, causing the overturn. We do not know if they were wearing harnesses, and if so whether they were attached and if they were whether it would have made a difference.
Galesville is around half way between Minneapolis and Milwaukee.
