New flagship for Lee Lifting

UK rental company Lee Lifting has taken delivery of a 230 tonne Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 All Terrain crane.

The five axle crane features an eight section 75 metre main boom and an 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that can be hydraulically offset by up to 40 degrees. Up to three, seven metre inserts can be added between the boom nose and swingaway to give a maximum tip height of 113 metres. Further extension options/combinations are possible for a maximum tip of 116 metres with all of the extension luffing. The crane is also equipped with two winches and full remote controls, and can carry 22 tonnes of its 72 tonnes of counterweight on board under the UK’s STGO rules.

Director Jody Whitmore said: “When selecting new machines, we have very different criteria to traditional crane hire companies. Steve (Elliot) knows what we need the cranes to do, and we can be confident we are getting the right tool for the job that is both high quality and, more importantly, reliable, which in the time pressures of the media industry is critical. We chose this crane as a further step forward in our fleet in terms of boom length, capacity and technology."

Lee Lifting operates from a base near London’s Heathrow Airport, covering central London, but has also built up a strong business working with the regional films studios of Pinewood, Leavesden, Shepperton, Longcross and Elstree studios. Last year the company celebrated 40 years in business and sadly lost its founder Lee Whitmore.
