Tower crane jib collapse - London

Earlier today it was reported to us that the jib of a luffing tower crane had come down in London, UK. We now have photographs and a statement from the crane’s owner.
The scene early this morning

The crane from the Falcon Crane fleet was working on a Durkan construction site near the Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal, Acton, West London. It seems that the jib simply gave way near the base and twisted around the tower. The police have said that the jib came down at around 4:00 this morning, no one was hurt in the incident. The night was reportedly calm, and no one was on site at the time.

Whether the damage was done during the extreme winds early this month, and was not picked up, or it collided with the other crane while weather-vaning?

Falcon issued a brief statement earlier this morning when it was first notified. It says:
“It has been reported to us that the jib of one of our luffing jib tower cranes collapsed overnight at a construction site in Acton. The crane was not in operation at the time and there are no reports of injuries or structural damage to other property. We will be conducting a thorough investigation of all immediate and underlying causes of the collapse.”
The development is for 158 apartments on the site of part of the old hospital and has been underway since 2022.

How many JASO cranes have to collapse before they are finally pulled off the market? Do people really have to die first?
