LEEA appoints membership director

The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association has (LEEA) has appointed Matthew Barber as director of membership.

Barber’s role will be to support LEEA members, working alongside chief executive Ross Moloney. He joins the association after almost 10 years with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), most recently as partnership and development manager, having started with the organisation in 2014 as a corporate account manager.

He began his career in 2006 as a personal trainer with David Lloyd Leisure, becoming a lecturer in sport for The college at Braintree in 2008. Three years later he joined the Digital Property Group as a field account manager , moving into a business development role with Asperity Employee Benefits 18 months later before leaving for IET in 2014.

Speaking of his new job Barber said: "It's compelling to work for an association that seeks to eliminate accident, injury and fatalities. To know that the work done day in, day out supporting members has such an impact on the industry and the people within it is very motivational. Safety, inspection, examination and ethical best practice is of vital importance in the various industries that LEEA supports. We must ensure that the LEEA brand is recognised globally, so our members can have confidence in showcasing their affiliation when working with their customers.”

Chief executive Ross Moloney added: “We are delighted to welcome Matt to our leadership team as an important part of our strategic development of LEEA. He will be able to provide strong support and representation to our members on a global basis, which continues as a fundamental aim of the association."
