Tower crane down

A tower crane collapsed in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, last night as Hurricane Milton passed through the city.

The crane was installed on an apartment block currently under construction by developers Red Apple. We believe that the crane is installed within the elevator shaft, with the tower above the building bucking and dropping into the street below. The jib blocking both lanes. Thankfully no one was injured in the incident.

The crane was one of four or five tower cranes currently installed on buildings in the city centre. We will update if and when we learn more.

The photos we have received so far are not that great, but the video below shows a little more detail.
