Nifty ClipOn fully available

Niftylift's ClipOn harness attachment sensor has now been rolled out across its entire range of HR - Height Rider - self-propelled boom lifts.

The device was 'soft launched' in March following a trial programme with UK rental company Speedy, See: Nifty harness attachment sensor
The ClipOn system activates when the key switch is turned on. If the operator has not attached his lanyard and attempts to move the machine, bright red LEDs above each connection point illuminate and an alarm sounds. Once the harness is properly attached, the LEDs turn green and the alarm stops.
The harness must be correctly attached for the light to turn green

The system also includes LEDs under the platform floor that indicate to those on the ground if the operator has attached their harness or not. It addresses requests from several major UK contractors for this device to be installed on boom lifts working on their sites, following the introduction of Nationwide Platforms’ ‘Harness On’ and Haulotte’s ‘Fastn’ devices last year.

The ClipOn device can also be retrofitted to older Niftylift platforms and is made up of three components: the control box, harness sensor and light array. The system operates similarly to modern car seatbelt alert systems.
LEDs can also be seen under the basket

Managing director John Keely said: "Working at height inevitably involves risks, with falls being one of the most frequent causes of workplace injuries. That's why ClipOn is crucial. Safety shouldn't be complicated, and by helping ensure every operator is securely harnessed before operating the machine, we are making a simple but significant move towards eliminating the risk of falls from height.”
