Fatal loading incident
A few weeks ago, a delivery driver working for a major rental company in Northern Ireland died after he was trapped by a machine that rolled back on him while loading.
Sadly, while we have been able to confirm most of the details, beyond all reasonable doubt, and know pretty much what happened after cross checking with a number of those who have first hand contacts, we do not have the information required to provide a report that might be more helpful for others to learn from - at least not yet.
The man working for KDM had, as we understand it, loaded a small mast type lift, similar to a Genie GR or Snorkel TM16. The lift rolled back and pressed him against the raised ramps, or possibly another machine and tragically he succumbed to the injuries that he sustained.
We have approached KDM senior management for a comment and further information but have not yet received a response. We do, of course understand that this is a really tough time for a company, especially one that is well run and works hard to ensure everyone is kept safe.
We hope to learn more in the next week or two and will of course update this item as we hear. In the meantime our sincerest condolences go out to family members, work colleagues and friends.
