A man towing a spider lift loaded on a trailer was killed in a tragic accident in Kent, UK on Saturday.
The man, who we understand, but have yet to confirm beyond all doubt, was working with Orion, Access, and was towing the trailer with an Isuzu pickup along the A21 road near Pembrey, Kent (Tunbridge Wells) when, according to the police, he struck the central barrier at around 18:00.
He then got out of the pickup and as he did so was hit by a small van and an SUV type car, he died at the scene shortly after the emergency services arrived. He was reportedly in his 40s.
Kent police have appealed for any witnesses to the collisions to contact them urgently on the SCIU appeal line - 01622 798538, or email [email protected], quoting reference EX/HG/109/24. Or if you have any dashcam footage click here
This was a tragically sad incident and not the sort of incident we would normally report on. But given the police request and the fact that it appears to have involved an active member of the access industry, along with the chance that it might just alert other delivery drivers to beware of such situations, we felt it relevant. We have also reached out to Orion Access.
