US based United Rentals has acquired Florida based HR2 High Reach from the Renzuli family.
HR2 which tends to trade as High Reach, is based in Sanford, Florida – on the north side of the Orlando conurbation. It was founded in its present form in 2003, but the High Reach business can trace its roots back to 1972. Today it runs a fleet of over 3,000 units, mostly, boom lifts, scissor lifts and telehandlers from JLG and Genie, from five locations - Sanford, Jacksonville, Tampa, Deerfield and Ocala. with around 300 employees.
The original High Reach company was established in 1972 and was acquired by general manager Rodger Renzuli in 1974. He sold the business in 1978 to Nations Rent which was acquired by Sunbelt /Ashtead in 2006.
When Renzuli’s non-compete clause lapsed in 2003, Rodger and son Lance – the current chief executive – set up HR2 High Reach to carry on where the old company had left off. The first eight employees on board came from the original High Reach company, the Renzulis also renewed their partnership with JLG, selling, servicing and renting them out.
The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
The video below tells the story of High Reach and HR2 High Reach – although it was made four years ago.
