Terex Utilities will introduce a new generation of zero emission bucket trucks - truck mounted utility platforms at the NTEA Work Truck Week in Indianapolis next week.
The new unit coming off the production line
The new model features the company's 55ft Optima HR55 aerial device mounted on a Mack MD7 Electric chassis, with a 18.8 metre working height, up to 14.7 metres of outreach and 318kg platform capacity. It is powered by Viatec's HyPower SmartPTO system, which has its own battery in order to operate independently from the chassis batteries, allowing a full day's operation of the boom and outriggers without impacting the vehicle's drive range.
The unit is equipped with the third eye digital platform, featuring up to six HD cameras displayed on a seven inch in-cab monitor providing real time monitoring of the vehicle's surroundings. According to the company, only a limited supply will be available in 2025, with lead times of 12 to 18 months.
Product marketing manager Tyler Schwingler said: "Our collaboration with Mack Trucks represents continued movement forward in zero-emissions utility vehicles. By combining our Optima HR55 aerial device with Mack's MDe7 chassis, we're providing utility companies with a solution that doesn't compromise on performance or capability while meeting their sustainability goals."
