Bill Stramer to retire

Bill Stramer, Link-Belt crane’s senior vice president sales, marketing and customer support, is to retire at the end of June after 50 years with the company.
Bill Stramer

Stramer joined the company in 1975 as a design engineering draftsman, followed by several years as a member of the technical services group when the company was known as FMC Link-Belt in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In1981 he was appointed as district manager for the Rocky Mountain region, while also overseeing Link-Belt Construction Equipment sales from Edmonton in Alberta, Canada all the way down to El Paso, Texas.

In 1989, Stramer moved to Lexington, Kentucky, as product manager for telescopic cranes, playing a key role in the development of Link-Belt’s more modern truck and Rough Terrain crane lines. In 1994, he was promoted to director of crane marketing and sales. It was also at this time that he began his long association with key industry associations such as the Specialized Carrier and Rigging Association as well as the Canadian Crane Rental Association, serving in non-executive roles with both.

He took over his current responsibilities in 2004, was appointed as a company director in 2011, and made senior vice president in 2017.

Chief executive Melvin Porter said: “I would like to thank Bill for five decades of dedicated service to Link-Belt Cranes. In his role as senior vice president of marketing, sales and customer support and as a member of the LBC board, he has helped to shape and grow the company. He is a well known and respected leader within the industry. I want to wish Bill and his family the very best as he begins a new chapter in his life.”

Vertikal Comment

It will be sad to See Bill Stramer leave the industry after all these years. He has been a constant for many people that work with Link Belt and always consistent and professional. A great example for others to follow.

The industry will lose a true gentleman, but we all wish him a long and stimulating retirement, we understand that he will be travelling to Munich for Bauma, before bowing out a couple of months later.
