Manitowoc has now confirmed the launch of the Grove version of the new Sennebogen built 200 tonne telescopic crawler crane – the Grove GHC200.
Oddly the Grove is rated at 160 tonnes – 200 US tons – even though every indication is that the two cranes are virtually the same, with a six section 56.4 metre pinned boom to which extensions of up to 21.6 metres can be added for an 81 metre maximum tip height. See: 200t Sennebogen telecrawler
The boom can be pinned with each section at 90 percent of full extension for greater overlaps between section and therefore substantial improvements in capacity and boom rigidity. The new crane also has load charts for working up to four degrees off level.

In North America where this crane will be marketed under the Grove banner, it can be transported in six or seven loads.
Product manager JJ Grace said: “As jobs get more challenging, higher load charts are needed to accomplish them. We are excited to bring the GHC200 to the market because it will increase the ability of companies to compete for and win jobs that require higher lifting capacities. It is an ideal crane for general construction and renewable energy, for example, because of its strength and increased pick & carry capabilities.”
Vertikal Comment
Only surprise here is the rating, we have managed to check the preliminary load chart on the Grove and sure enough it is rated at 160 tonnes @ 2.4 metres/8ft. We have yet to see the Sennebogen chart but have asked why the difference.
Other than that, this looks as though it could be a popular crane in the Americas.
