Chilean port operator Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI) has taken delivery of a 125 tonne Konecranes Gottwald ESP.10 mobile harbour crane, the manufacturer's largest model.
The new ESP.10 is unloaded at ITI
The crane offers a radius of 64 metres and features a 43 metre high operator's cab. It includes a 10 metre tower extension to handle nine high container stacks across 22 rows on Super Post Panamax vessels. It will be delivered with two twin lift telescopic spreaders and can be equipped with rotating spreaders or motor grippers for bulk handling. The unit also includes the Truconnect remote monitoring system.
ITI general manager Rodrigo Pommiez Aravena said: "ITI plays a central role in connecting Chile to the world. The Generation 6 crane will ideally complement our existing Konecranes fleet. We are convinced of the technology and are pleased to increase our handling capacities and to be able to operate Super Post Panamax ships efficiently."
Based in Iquique, north west of Chile, ITI - a subsidiary of SAAM Terminals - placed the order in the third quarter of 2024 after viewing similar units operating at Super Terminais in Manaus, Brazil.
