150 tonner for Schwarze

German crane company Schwarze ASC has taken delivery of a 150 tonne Liebherr LTM 1150-5.3 All Terrain crane for its Garbsen facility near Hanover. The crane will run entirely on HVO fuel.

The five axle LTM 1150-5.3 is equipped with a 66 metre, seven section main boom along with the 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that offsets hydraulically by up to 40 degrees. A seven metre insert can be added between the boom nose and extension to take the maximum tip height to almost 95 metres and maximum radius to 72 metres.

The family business converted its fleet to entirely HVO in March and estimates it will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 850 tonnes this year.

Schwarze ASC managing director Nina Schwarze said: "We have already had excellent experiences with the LTM 1130-5.1 and are pleased to be able to efficiently and sustainably cover the performance class below our 220 tonner with the 150 tonner."

"HVO is a conscious step for us for more climate protection, even if the diesel alternative is currently even more expensive. What particularly motivated me was that HVO 100 offers the possibility of operating existing technology - especially heavy combustion engines - immediately almost CO2 neutrally, without conversion. From my point of view, this is much more sustainable than waiting for new technology, some of which does not even exist for this area."

Based in Garbsen, near Hanover, Schwarze was founded in 1952 by Walter Schwarze senior and purchased its first mobile crane in 1964. A second generation took over in 1978 in the form of Walter Schwarze junior, with Nina Schwarze joining the business in 2004, a third generation to work at the company. Today the company runs a fleet of All Terrains and self-erecting mobile tower cranes from three locations in the region - Garbsen, Hanover and Braunschweig - alongside specialised models such as the new Jekko spider cranes, as well as a transport fleet and logistics service.
