German crane manufacturer Liebherr has delivered four mobile harbour cranes to Italian ports, including two 154 tonne LHM 550 units for IPM Bari's bulk terminal, one 124 tonne LHM 420 for La Nuova Meccanica Navale in Naples, and one electric LHM 420 for Interporto Rivers Venezia.

The two LHM 550 cranes for Bari, in southern Italy, join an existing two LHM 550s. The units have a 54 metre outreach and feature Liebherr's SmartGrab, intelligent system that optimises grab filling rates in a self learning manner, helping increase the fill rate, while avoiding overloads.
The LHM 420 for La Nuova Meccanica Navale in Naples offers 124 tonne lifting capacity at a radius of 16 metres with a maximum outreach of 48 metres, the unit replaces an older LHM 1300. The crane will handle heavy duty shipyard operations including hatch cover removal and oversized component handling at the ship repair yard with two production sites and 230 metre floating dock.
Based Northwest of Venice, Interporto Rivers Venezia's electric 124 tonne LHM 420 will support bulk and scrap operations at its multipurpose terminal. The addition joins the terminal's existing fleet of four Liebherr mobile harbour cranes comprising one 64 tonne LHM 250, two 104 tonne LHM 320s and one 154 tonne LHM 550.
Liebherr Rostock sales general manager Andreas Ritschel said: "Italian ports present a unique mix of requirements, from precision lifting in shipyards to high volume bulk discharge. By pairing electric drive options with proven reliability, we are delivering performance that meets operational targets and reduces local emissions where shore power is in place."
