First spider for Sky

UK rental company Sky Platform Hire has taken delivery of its first spider lift, a new 20 metre Hinowa LL20:10PIII.

The LL20.10 offers 9.7 metres of outreach, with an up & over height of 8.5 metres and an unrestricted platform capacity of 230kg. The overall stowed dimensions are just over five metres long by 795mm wide with the basket removed. Features include one touch outrigger set up, levelling and retraction, auto speed control and extendable tracks.

Sky Platforms was acquired by Nick Parham and Richard Onslow last October, and is now looking at a fleet replacement and rebranding programme.

Managing director Nick Parham said: “Apart from investing in new truck mounts, it became clear that some of our local customers are regularly renting tracked booms, so it makes sense to invest for us to enter that mark, starting out with the new Hinowa. We feel that it will complement our truck mounted lift range which we offer on both an operated and self-drive basis. I have worked with Jonathan Wiseman of APS before, and as usual, the service offering was exceptional. The machine went straight out on hire to a local customer”

Sky Platform Hire is based near Honiton in Devon, South West England and since 1990 has operated a dedicated truck mounted rental business, with units up to 51 metres, covering Devon, Dorset, Cornwall, Somerset and Bristol.
