TVH expands electric design

Global parts supplier TVH has expanded its Electric System Design activities, aiming to offer support for manufacturers developing electric machines or those converting diesel or gas powered equipment to electric.

The company said it combines software development support with components including battery systems, controllers and electric motors. According to TVH, this allows it to supply off the shelf parts for prototype work and avoid minimum order quantities for customers building small numbers of specialised machines.

TVH engineer Thomas Dhaenens said: “As a system integrator, we have both the technical expertise and the means to support customers developing electrical machines or converting combustion engines to electric powertrains in existing equipment.”

The company said it is also working on developments, including swappable battery packs and wireless and public electric vehicle charging. It added that this work has brought it into contact with Belgian innovation centre Flanders Make, which supports testing and certification.

The company also recently hosted an Electric System Design event for machine manufacturers, engineers and suppliers from the Benelux region, with speakers from Flanders Make, Vlaio and De Groene Koers.

TVH, founded in 1969 and based in Waregem, Belgium, operates from 90 branches worldwide with 5,000 employees shipping parts and accessories for forklifts, aerial work platforms and industrial vehicles to around 180 countries.
