Japanese mini crawler and spider crane manufacturer Maeda has appointed Uriquip as its dealer across the Southwestern region of the USA. The agreement, signed at Conexpo earlier this month, includes sales, service and parts support across Arizona, California, New Mexico and Utah.
The Maeda America subsidiary is based in Texas and was established in 2022 in a bid to catch up with the success that Unic has had with Spyder crane. Since then, it has been developing its North American dealer network. The appointment of Uriquip takes its network to 16 dealers operating from 40 locations across Canada and the USA,
Tommy Akamatsu of Maeda America (L) and Uri Toudjarov of Uriquip with the dealer contracts at Conexpo
Maeda America chief executive Tommy Akamatsu said: “Uriquip brings strong market knowledge, technical expertise and a customer first approach that aligns perfectly with Maeda’s values. This partnership enhances our ability to deliver our industry leading products and services to customers across these key states.”
Uriquip general manager Uri Toudjarov added: “Becoming an authorised Maeda dealer is an exciting step for Uriquip. We look forward to representing Maeda’s world class products and delivering outstanding support to customers throughout the Southwest.”
Uriquip works internationally and also offers new Zoomlion, Liebherr, Manitex, Tadano and XCMG cranes, along with JLG aerial work platforms and telehandlers, and sells and stocks used cranes and platforms. The comapny is based in Montgomery, Texas and was established in 2023 by Uri Toudjarov. His crane career goes back to 1995 when he joined Terex Cranes as a sales director and was later promoted to vice president of international sales during the heady acquisition days of Fil Filipov. In 2007, he moved to Global Crane Sales as vice president, as it landed the international distribution rights for Zoomlion crawler and Rough Terrain cranes. He took over as president in 2009 and also spent 10 years with Bigge Cranes & Rigging, looking after international sales. He was recently appointed managing director of German excavator and loader crane manufacturer Atlas.
