Spanish contractor Dragados Offshore has ordered seven Palfinger PF200-7m davit cranes for installation on five High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) converter platforms in the North Sea.
The platforms, part of large scale grid connection programme for the German transmission, will be supplied to system operators Amprion and TenneT Germany. Four of the cranes will be installed on two Amprion offshore substations, with the other three installed on three TenneT substation platforms.

This is Palfinger’s first order from Dragados, but the third contract for the offshore substation programme, following earlier deliveries to Seatrium and Larsen & Toubro. In 2025 Palfinger booked orders for 42 davit cranes for offshore substations.
PF200-7m is the largest model in the manufacturer’s PF range and has seven metres of horizontal outreach with a capacity of one tonne for routing cycle work single line or three tonnes for exceptional lifts on two parts of line. The cranes are also equipped with Palfinger’s plug-and-play design and advanced corrosion protection.

With this order Palfinger will have sold davit cranes for 12 of the 15 TenneT offshore substations currently planned for German and Dutch waters.
Iavor Markov of Palfinger Offshore Wind said: “This collaboration and the growing demand for our offshore wind cranes further solidifies our position as a key provider of integrated marine solutions and highlights the strategic importance of strong, long term partnerships in this market.”
