German crane rental company Markewitsch has taken delivery of a new 45 tonne Tadano AC 3.045-1 City, adding to a City type All Terrain fleet that it started back in 2002 with a 60 tonne Demag AC 60 City and now includes four different two and three axle models up to 50 tonnes, most of them Demag/Tadano.
The new three axle AC 3.045-1crane features a five section 31.2 metre main boom, to which a 7.1 to 13 metre swingaway extension with up to 30 degrees of offset can be added for a maximum tip height of just over 45 metres. A three sheave 1.2 metre runner extension can also be handy when working indoors.

The crane also comes with Tadano’s Flex Base variable outrigger set-up, with the crane control system monitoring actual beam extension and slew position to calculate the optimum load chart for the configuration.
The new addition will be based at the Markewitsch depot in Schweinfurt, north west of the company headquarters in Nuremberg, and will be mainly employed on industrial and machine installation work, which makes up around half of the company’s business in a typical year. As a result, the company has ordered the crane with the ‘E-Pack Ready’ option, allowing it to take on projects in emission free areas or environments with special noise emission rules. It also allows indoor work without having to leave the doors open - handy in winter.

Managing director, André Markewitsch said: “The City cranes give us great flexibility when working indoors, but also outside, especially when it comes to navigating tight entrances, manoeuvring into corners, or when a compact slewing radius is crucial – in short: wherever space is limited, the City is simply unbeatable.”
“The crane can also telescope under load, while the asymmetrical outriggers set up option with Flex Base is invaluable in many of the confined spaces we face. And the fact that it can lift to 25 tonnes on the runner is also impressive for a crane of this size.”

In addition to crane rental and heavy transport, the company offers turnkey industrial machinery movements, installations and assembly work contracts. The current crane fleet tops 60 units, ranging from loader cranes and two axle city cranes, to self-erecting mobile tower cranes, to All Terrains up to 500 tonnes, with 350 employees.
