The five axle GMK 5150XL features a seven section, 68.7 metre main boom with a capacity of 8.1 tonnes on full boom, or 12.7 tonnes at 60 metres. The GMK5150XL can travel with up to 10.2 tonnes of counterweight on board while keeping within 12 tonne axle loadings.
The new cranes were sold by regional Grove distributor Karun, which will also provide the ongoing service, training and replacement parts support.
Harkeet general manager Samet Gürsu said: “We chose the Grove cranes for their high quality and will use them on a variety of projects after the construction of the offshore platform. The uninterrupted and safe progress of our clients' projects is our highest priority; therefore, we chose Grove cranes for their durability and long service life.”
The two new cranes arrive on site Karun’s Cihan Bektaş added: “The GMK5150XL is an incredibly versatile asset. Its combination of long boom and compact footprint makes it the ideal solution for energy and infrastructure sectors and underscores Grove’s growing influence in the Caspian energy corridors, where high capacity and versatile lifting solutions are essential for the next generation of infrastructure.”
Established as a transport company in 1957, Harkeet added a crane rental division in 2003, purchasing a number of new crawler, Rough Terrain and All Terrains. Today the company operates a large lattice crawler crane fleet, along with All Terrain telecsopics upto 800 tonnes. across a number of countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
When the gas platform project in Azerbaijan has been completed the GMK5150XL will be employed on wind turbine assembly, refinery maintenance, and shipyard operations.
