Skylift wins branding award

Skylift the Limerick based access and telehandler rental company has won gold at the Irish Design Effectiveness Awarda (IDEA) for its new corporate branding, becoming the first company from its sector to win one of the prestigious national awards.

Speaking after the awards ceremony at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin, Niamh Browne of Skylift's design team, Designers Ink, said: “Initially we were delighted to be short listed because of the intense competition for these awards but to win the Gold award in the branding category was a fantastic surprise. Skylift was competing against national and internationally recognised brands that operate in more brand and marketing conscious sectors.”

The awards are based on a number of criteria in addition to the overall brand design and application, with the judges placing considerable weight on its contribution to the company’s business performance.

“The judging panel were extremely impressed with the Skylift brand because it has to work effectively in industries that are not as brand aware as others. Skylift was also able to demonstrate the level of impact the branding programme had on its business.”

“Skylift has implemented the rebranding on all of its equipment, service vehicles, buildings, signage, marketing materials and corporate clothing. The investment and commitment was very evident to the judging panel.”

John Cusack managing director of Skylift added ‘The rebrand of Skylift was a direct response to our need to create an identity that reflected where Skylift is ten years on from where we started.”

“This award is a phenomenal way to mark our tenth anniversary in business. Designers Ink recognised the business ambitions of our brand in terms of working across a range of markets and newly extended divisions such as training. Crucially, it also had to work nationally and internationally.”

The journey this rebrand has taken over the past year has been incredible, the ability of Niamh and her team to interpret our business goals and deliver such an effective brand programme is a real credit to them.”

Other winners on the night included Bord Bia and Dulux paint. Designers Ink also join a very select group of graphic designers to win an IDEA design award twice.

The IDEA awards are judged by a panel of business experts and not by design professionals, highlighting the emphasis on the business effectiveness of the branding.
