Crane tips in Cincinnati

A five axle All Terrain crane, belonging to Maxim Crane fell over while lifting a tower crane jib into place in Over the Rhine, Cincinnati, Ohio this morning.

The toppled crane

The crane had around 45 metres of boom extended when it is said to have swayed and then tipped over sideways. The telescopic boom came crashing down on a 4x4 vehicle which had been parked at a meter by one of the construction workers only 10 minutes earlier.

The driver of this car had only parked it 10 minutes earlier

The crane operator was trapped inside his cab for a short period and power lines were also pulled down by the falling crane and the jib, otherwise no one was hurt and damage appeared minimal.

The boom and jib came down into the road

The crane appears to be a Terex Demag, and looks as though the right rear outrigger gave way, but photographs from the scene are not good enough to be certain.
