CMPE appoints Smith
The Contractors Mechanical Plant Engineers (CMPE) has appointed John Smith of Philorth Plant Services as one of its trainers and assessors for the CMPE Certificate of Competence (CoC) scheme.
Based from his offices in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, Smith will concentrate his activities in Scotland but, should the need arise, but will also work further afield if required. In fact, Smith has just returned from a long-term MOD contract for plant operator assessment, scaffolding and lifting equipment inspections in the Falkland Islands.

The CMPE CoC card scheme is a logbook based process whereby holders can record and verify their skills, experience and abilities on the broadest possible range of contractors’ plant and site equipment. The well-established scheme is set to exceed 20,000 active card holders.
Smith founded Philorth Plant Services to provide a national training service, plus plant inspection and assessment service throughout Scotland.
The CMPE is looking for suitably qualified plant operator member trainers and assessors to extend its safety campaign throughout the UK.
