60ft Electric boom

Manlift Engineering, MLE, of Wisconsin, USA, has introduced a battery electric powered Genie Z-60/43 articulated boom lift.

The company was contacted by a prominent Aerospace and satellite company to produce an emissions free 60ft lift for its virtual clean room applications. The company supplied MLS with a Genie Z60/34 diesel powered boomlift that it had purchased.

The converted unit

MLE began by removing the diesel engine and replaced it with a 48V DC electric motor and a large 650 Amp-hour battery pack. The conversion was carried out with the controls remaining and operating exactly as on the original unit.

The DC power conversion

The conversion, says MLE, is typical of the "Electric Packages" that it offers for modifying a wide range of existing internal combustion powered lifts for clean room applications.
