TIL produces 5,000th crane
TIL - formerly Tractors India - recently produced its 5,000th crane, an RT630C, from its Kamarhatty plant, near Calcutta. A spectacular show marked the company's milestone, attended by senior members of Manitowoc Crane group- TIL’s technology partner - including the president of Manitowoc Company Glen Tellock as well as many valued customers and suppliers.
Unveiling the RT630C, Tellock said: "The collaboration with TIL has always been a matter of great pride for Manitowoc, and the commitment and innovation to grow is a common bond that has cemented this relationship of over 40 years."
The crane was presented to its new owners Reliance Petroleum.
TIL was originally establsihed as a joint venture between Coles Cranes and Tractors India, its distributor, in 1962. It changed its name in 1970 to the Indian Crane Company and then back to TIL.
When Coles became part of Grove Manufacturing in 1985 TIL began to build Grove cranes under license and became a Manitowoc Partner when Grove was acquired.
