AFI Scotland launches charity fund raiser

The Glasgow depot of UK aerial lift rental company AFI-Uplift, is to give a lift to the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

For every machine rented from AFI-Uplift’s Scotland depot at Bellshill between March and May 2008, the company will donate £10 to the charity. The company is also guaranteeing a minimum donation of £1,000 anticipates that the total raised via the campaign will exceed this.

Richard Saunders, AFI-Uplift’s Managing Director, said: “Glasgow is our first Scottish depot and we are delighted that we are now able to announce this fundraising initiative to support such a worthy cause as CHAS. We hope that it will result in a substantial sum being raised for this charity.”

CHAS provides hospice services in Scotland for children with life limiting conditions, it offers professional care, practical help and emotional support to the whole family from the day they are referred until the death of their child and beyond.

Rachel House, Scotland’s first children’s hospice, opened in Kinross in 1996 and Robin House in Balloch opened in 2005. Both hospices are purpose-built and each provides ongoing support for up to 200 families across Scotland each year. Since 2003, the Rachel House At Home team, based in Inverness, has provided support to children and their families in the Highlands.

At any one time, Rachel House and Robin House can each accommodate eight children and their families. No charge is made to families who use CHAS’s services and both hospices and the At Home service are funded mainly through the generosity of the charity’s many supporters.
