Fire Bronto in action

Many thanks one of our readers who was present at the North Wales Police Headquarters today when a fire broke out on the roof. A Bronto F32RL fire fighting platform from the North Wales fire and rescue service was among the equipment brought in to extinguish the flames.

It is good to see that the lift was properly set up with cribbing and mats under the outriggers and all staff correctly harnessed. They even managed to put the fire out.

Eyewitnesses said it appeared that the roof of the building in Glan Y Don, Colwyn Bay, was collapsing. The building is undergoing a major renovation and the roofing contractor was working on the roof when it went up.

A builder in his 20s was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries but no serious injuries were otherwise reported.

A police spokeswoman said around 200 people were evacuated form the building.
