Rusch Special Products of Zwaag, Holland has built new record breaking demolition machine, the world’s highest, for Dutch demolition firm Euro Demolition of Beverwijk.

With an operational weight of 220 tonnes, the new machine can effortlessly cut through 500mm thick concrete at a height of 86 metres and one metre thick steel beams at 76 metres.

The 90 metre Rusch demolition machine nears completion

The design features a three section telescopic main boom mounted on a modified Caterpillar 5110 mining shovel. Standing 90 metres high when extended, the machine dwarfs any existing ultra high reach demolition rigs by 25 metres.

The weight of demolition tool that the new machine can handle is five tonnes at 90 metres and 10 tonnes at 80 metres.

Rusch previously built a 60 metre telescopic high reach demolition boom, also mounted on a Cat carrier, which at the time was the largest in Europe. This generated interest for an even higher machine.

Changing legislation and working practises are driving the demolition industry towards such equipment to allow demolition to be carried out in a controlled manner using modern heavy demolition attachments. The crane and wrecking ball is a thing of the past!

Rusch has used its experience of working with new high-quality steels in building and repairing telescopic crane booms, to provide specialist solutions for the demolition industry.

As soon as the 90 metre boom has been fully tested it will be entered for inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records.
