A reader spotted the scaffold below in use in Livingston, Scotland for work on industrial units... The men who set up the tower have incorporated a pile of pallets into the tower and used one as a foot pad.

In additon to the unforgivable base, the platforms, consisting of loose planks and a totally inadequate guardrailing, not to mention the total lack of toe-boards, is a disgrace.

Our reader says:” For all the access firms in Scotland, including ourselves who invest millions every year on access, we still see this practice taking place. We have over 300 machines available for hire alone and could be onsite here in less than one hour, that could make accessing this roof safe, yet another corner is being cut by those who built this hazard.”
