Boom lands in dock

A man was ejected from a boom lift yesterday at the Avalon Pointe Marina in Avalon, New Jersey after he attempted to drive from the dock onto a barge.

A wheeled gantry crane prepares to lift the boom out of the water

The lift dropped down between the dock and the barge catapulting the operator onto the dock. He was airlifted to the regional medical centre in Atlantic City, his condition is unknown.

Needless to say he was not wearing a harness and short lanyard.

Staff at the marina used their rubber tyred gantry crane to lift the telescopic boom lift out for the water.
