First job for McNally LTM11200

McNally/Windhoist the Irish based crane rental and wind turbine installation specialist has taken delivery of the First Liebherr LTM11200-9.1 in the UK & Ireland.

Before heading to Ireland though the crane, one of the first few delivered, stopped off in Heidenheim, Germany to carry out its first job.

The first lift comprised the completion of a 98 metre hub height Enercon E70 wind turbine, including placing the top sections of the tower, the nacelle and the complete blade assembly. This was also the first wind energy related job for a Liebherr LTM11200-9.1

The crane was equipped with 122 tonnes of counterweight and rigged with 88.2 metres of main boom with Y-Guy superlift, six metre Excenter boom extension base plus 10 metre section and topped with a 6.5m hydraulic luffing fly jib.

McNally said: “We have worked closely with Liebherr in the development of the crane and are confident that this concept will offer a radical alternative to the erection of mega-watt turbines in terms of reduced mobilisation activity on site, greater flexibility and reduced exposure to work-at-height risks associated with conventional heavy lattice boom assembly.”

McNally will also take delivery of the first Wumag WT100 100 metre truck mounted lift in the UK this week, the unit is intended to support the company’s wind turbine installation and maintenance work.
