Telehandler robbery
Armed robbers used a JCB Loadall telehandler to break into a cash handling centre in Beaumont Leys Leicestershire, UK, on Friday. The raid occurred in the early evening at around six at the Loomis UK on the Gorse Hill industrial estate in the town,
Four men wearing blue overalls with balaclavas and crash helmets used the stolen telehandler to smash their way into the building. Once in side they get out of the cab brandishing a fire arm.
Two Loomis employees received minor injuries during the robbery and were treated by ambulance crews at the scene.
The police want to hear from anyone who may have seen the telehandler being taken shortly before the robbery in Broombriggs Road on the Bradgate Heights housing estate, near Glenfield Hospital.
The thieves set fire to the telehandler as they left the scene, apparently in a blue, five door, Ford Focus ST, 2006 model. This vehicle was found abandoned and on fire near the point where the telehandler was taken.
