Middle East Cranes
The third Middle East Crane Conference will be held later this month in Dubai, the organisers have put together a wide ranging programme which will be of interest to anyone with an interest in cranes and crane safety in the region.
The two-day programme on the 24th and 25th of February, includes a total of 25 speakers ranging from local experts, such as Dubai municipality safety engineer Ahmed Khalil Abdul Kareem, to Bahrain's crane entrepreneur Sami Nass, to international experts such as Ludo Sarens, managing director of Belgian heavy lift giant Sarens, and Alex Mullins, general manager of Al Jaber Heavy Lift.
Subjects will include local business opportunities and safety issues, and safety and operational topics for all types of construction related lifting, including risk assessments for tower cranes, along with standards, wire rope and anti-collision systems.
Mobile crane topics include the pitfalls to watch out for when buying used cranes, EN 13000. Crawler crane topics include the differences between Japanese and Western designs, the limits of duty-cycle crawlers and the potential for mini-cranes in the region.

The feedback on the previous two conferences was highly positive, with solid information and feedback as well as strong networking opportunities. Looking at the programme there is no reason to assume that this one will not be every bit as good.
