Victorian cuts at Boom Logistics
Australian crane rental company, Boom Logistics is to significantly reduce its presence in Melbourne, Victoria.
Boom currently has 24 mobile cranes and 45 employees in Melbourne, but has been loosing money, as a result it will cut the fleet to six, with 17 cranes to be sold and one transferred to Western Australia.
At the same time 31 employees will be let go, and two properties disposed of, the remaining cranes and staff will be merged into the company’s Tower crane division in Laverton, Victoria
Boom said that its mobile crane operation at Morwell would not be affected by this move, and added: "The cranes being sold are either small capacity cranes or cranes at the end of their useful lives that no longer fit with Boom’s fleet management plans."
