Grove cuts a further 450

The Manitowoc Crane Group has announced it will lay off an additional 450 employees – mostly production workers - at its Grove facility in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania, within the next week. This follows more than 300 redundancies last month.

The announcement was made yesterday at employee meetings, but the lay-offs won't be official until Friday.

Dennis Rooney, vice president Human Resources for Manitowoc said the demand for product has slowed down to a point where the company had to decrease production.

Company officials thought that the January lay-offs would be sufficient, but after a company re-evaluation, they decided these further cuts were necessary.
