New Ruthmanns for Skylift
The Skylift division of Nationwide Platforms’ has taken delivery of the first of two 58 metre Ruthmann T580 truck mounted lifts equipped with some special TV/Film attachments.
The first unit will be based at the company’s Manchester branch, the second will arrive at the end of March, The two T580’s are part of an order which includes six T275 27 metre Ruthmann truck mounts.
The T580’s boast a 500kg platform capacity coupled with 40 metres of outreach all on a 26 tonne GVW truck. Other features include platform to ground communications, boom positioning memory, tele-control diagnostics direct to the manufacturer via sim card and dual emergency recovery backup systems with dual battery pack.

Skylift is specifically targeting television and film companies with the T580 for coverage of major sporting events, so in addition to the standard extendable working camera cage, the T580 provides a full 360 degree panning TV camera cage that travels fitted, along with the Musco lighting frame rig that allows operators to fit and elevate flood light arrangements.
The truck also boasts rear wheel steering , allowing access to even the most awkward of venues.
