AJ Access takes SGB booms and scissors

AJ Access has agreed terms to purchase the SGB UK fleet of self propelled scissor and boom lifts, following the decision by SGB to exit the self propelled powered access market earlier this year.

The deal includes over 700 units which will be transported to AJ`s head office premises in Caldicot over the coming weeks and then sold on from their.

Tony Mort managing director of AJ Access said: “Over the years we have demonstrated our strength in managing this kind of acquisition opportunity. The process has been made so much easier due to the professional manner in which SGB has run its business, and the high level of maintenance afforded the fleet. The general condition of the assets is excellent”

A J has already started to market the equipment using its international network of clients. The company expects to sell the vast majority of the machines overseas, helping remove capacity from the market which is currently more than high enough to cover current demand.

The deal is an assets only deal, SGB has said that its intention is to continue to offer its clients a powered access equipment service in the UK, but with the equipment supplied by sub-contractors on a rehire basis.
