Overhead trapping accident
A man suffered serious back injuries yesterday when he was crushed between his lift and an overhead beam on a construction site near Sizewell power station, Suffolk, UK
The man, in his early 20s, became trapped between the aerial lift he was using and the overhead steel beam, on the Seeza site compound between Sizewell A and B.
Firefighters were called in and cut the platform from the boom, in order to rescue the man and place him on a spinal board. The man was taken to Ipswich Hospital, where he is being treated for “life-changing injuries”.
The compound has been secured and a Health and Safety Executive investigation is due to take place later today..
