Lift tips in Scotland

An aerial lift tipped over on Saturday resulting in the death of a 28 year old man and the injury of another. All we know for certain at this stage is that the two were pruning trees on what has been described as a steep slope.

The accident occurred in Gatehouse-of-Fleet in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, around 13:00 on Saturday. Daniel Meehan, 28, died after he was trapped under the lift while Neil Pickthall, 37, was injured and his condition was described as "serious but not life threatening".

Vertikal Comment

As soon as we hear any details that might explain how this happed we will post the details, the only clue at this stage is that the lift was reportedly set up on a slope.

The sad thing here is that an aerial lift is by far and away the safest and most efficient method for carry out such work, and accidents like this extremely rare. While falls from trees during such work is relatively common.
