Oshkosh may reconsider closure
JLG parent, Oshkosh has said that it may reconsider closing its Oakes, North Dakota, facility, following an appeal by Senator Byron Dorgan and after winning a new military vehicle contract, which could be produced there.
The Oakes plant is currently a JLG facility, but was due to close down in September with the 60 jobs being relocated to other plants
Dorgan said that Oshkosh chief executive, Robert Bohn, has agreed to take a "very serious look" at keeping the Oakes plant open, he also said that Oshkosh, has won a new military contract worth over a $1 billion which might help support the plant.
Dorgan said yesterday that Bohn said he should be able to report back within 10 days.
