No spidermen

In spite of the current slow down it seems companies in the UK are still struggling to fill some positions including finding good spider lift operators.

Universal Access, the Basildon based aerial lift rental company, says that it is struggling to find competent operators for its larger spider lifts, which customers often prefer to rent with operator.

Where are all the unemployed operators? Are there many unemployed operators around?

Vertikal Comment

One wonders if the aerial lift rental industry, at least in the UK, is still facing a shortage of skilled people? Listening to companies that are looking to recruit – and yes many companies are still looking for staff – it seems that finding key people is still not easy.

We offer free jobs wanted adverts in our publications for those out of work and looking for a new position and yet the number of requests we receive for such adverts is minimal. In the last issue a lady looking for a job was offered several within days of the ad appearing.

If there truly is a shortage now then we really need to step our efforts to attract young or new people into the industry. It will be easier now then when the economy is flying again. – IPAF!
