Bank of England leaves rate unchanged

As widely predicted the Bank of England's Monetary policy committee decided today to leave base rates untouched at 4.5 percent today. This follows two months of quarter percent increases.

Most forecasters expect the recent rate increases to continue in August when further indications on the British economy will be available.
