Mammoet adds more Kobelco crawlers

International heavy-lift contractor Mammoet has added five more 250 tonne capacity Kobelco CKE2500-2 crawler cranes to its fleet for international operations.

The new cranes have been supplied with main booms of up to 91.4 metres, together with a 61 metre boom and 61 metre luffing jib configurations. All five units are fitted with tilting cabs.

The five cranes are all destined for oil and energy-related projects raging from the heat and humidity of Brazil, to the dry desert conditions of the Middle-East, and the extreme sub-artic coastal weather of the Russian island of Sakhalin.

One of Mammoet’s Kobelco CKE2500-2 cranes

Mammoet ordered its first CKE2500 cranes when the model was introduced in 2000, and A major deciding factor in the repeat order has been its experience with them, particularly in extreme conditions, where, as well as versatile lifting performance, long-term reliability and ease of transport - the self-assembly and easy maintenance are all key operational factors.

The CKE2500 made its first appearance in Europe at Bauma in 2001, while the updated CKE2500-2 version was introduced in 2005. Now, with more than 800 units CKE2500 and related models having been delivered worldwide, it is one of Kobelco’s best-selling cranes.
