RT Crane tips in Choctaw

A Rough Terrain crane tipped over yesterday on a site in Choctaw, Oklahoma no one was injured and damage was slight.

The crane, a 35 to 50 ton Lorain RT was placing steel on a Boldt Construction job site which is building an expansion to Choctaw Middle school.

The crane which was set up properly and rigged with a swingaway extension seems to have been overloaded causing it to loose stability, coming to rest on the boom nose- damage appears slight. The crane was righted fairly quickly and the boom was able to fully retract.

Boldt Construction confirmed that there were no injuries and that it is investigating the cause of the accident. It is also sending the crane away for a thorough inspection before it goes back into service.
