Other than this the new unit is a classic boom with 360 degrees continuous slew, 2.43 metres overall width, 6.5 metres overall length and 2.89 metres overall height. 4x4 drive, oscillating axle and 45 percent gradeability are all standard. Overall weight is understandably on the high side at 8,200kgs.

The second new unit – the 30ft/ nine metres platform height WZ09ASM is a classic Japanese designed non slew boom lift/scissor lift alternative, similar to earlier products and the Manitou TP15. Unlike the Manitou it offers unrestricted boom operation with up to four metres outreach from the front axle when the boom is horizontal, although capacity in this position is just 100kgs. Maximum lift capacity with up to 1.5 metres from the front axle is 600kgs. The unit is s weighty 6.8 tonnes thanks to its unrestricted telescope.
The 3.1 by 2.02 metre platform rotates though 180 degrees to provide up to a metre of lateral outreach.

The company is also working on a number of other new products and ranges, Mark Darwin of Vertikal.Net spoke with Aichi senior managers at the show and will report on developments after the show.

Vertikal Comment

These three products are very much niche models rather than mainstream and are a break with the company’s recent more mainstream product developments. This does not signal however that it is switching its policy, more that it is not ready yet to unveil the new products that it is working on. More on this later.
