Sponsored ‘Girls-Climb’

Claire Pearson of JLG UK will join a group of eight girls for a charity climb of Hellvelyn in England's Lake District on June 9th.

The 'Girls-Climb' has been organised by Katharine Leask in memory of her son Sam who died in October aged nine, barely three months after he contracted an auto-immune disease while on a camping holiday in the Lake District.

The climb of England’s third highest peak at 950 metres, is expected to take around eight hours. The funds raised will to the Sam Leask Memorial Playground Fund which aims to provide a children’s play area in the village of Kirkton, near Dumfries, Scotland.

The move follows £2,000 the family has already raised for Yorkhill Childrens Hospital in Glasgow, where Sam spent his last month or two.

Hellvelyn in the summer months

Katharine Leask said: “Following the tragic death of our dear son Sam we wanted to try and do something positive in our community. Improving the playground in Kirkton Village would provide our family with a permanent reminder of how Sam touched many lives. As an active boy he always loved visiting playgrounds and it would be fantastic to think that we have all improved the facilities for other children in the community.”
